The star-spangled real estate market has reached a new record with the most expensive house ever sold in the United States. New York has always attracted the super-rich from around the world in search of unique properties, such as US entrepreneur Ken Griffin, who paid a record $238 million for a penthouse on three floors, including the fifty-third and fifty-fifth, of a skyscraper being built at number 220 Central Park South. At the beginning of the same year, Griffin spent 95 million pounds, about $120 million, for a nineteenth century building near St. James Park in London. Griffin is the founder of Citadel, a company operating since 1990 in the financial sector with more than 1,400 employees.  Currently, his fortune is estimated at $9.9 billion, ranked according to Forbes in 172th place among the richest people on the planet. Griffin already held a similar housing record, owning the most expensive home in Chicago, a four-story penthouse on top of a skyscraper at #9 Walton, purchased in 2017 for $60 million.
