In fact, more than half a million internationals have searched for homes in the Bel Paese. In the ranking of Italy’s most popular and sought-after regions, Tuscany stands in first place, followed by Puglia and Lombardy. Just off the podium are Liguria and Abruzzo, recording +28% over the previous year in the popularity index, rising from seventh to fifth place. Following them are Sardinia, Sicily, Piedmont, Umbria and Calabria, with +45.2%, placing them for the first time in the top ten. The average value of real estate in Gate-away.com searches is 352,456 euro. Requests for real estate in the price range of up to 100 thousand euro have increased by 16.6%, with 14.9% from 100 thousand to 250 thousand. The international client searching for properties in Italy is between the ages of 55 and 64, with a high level of education, and is looking for solutions as independent as possible and ready for immediate occupancy. As for geographical origin, in 2018, searches were monitored from 150 countries, with the number of customers from the United States rising +30.5% to first place, with 18.3% from the UK, ranking second. Rounding out the picture are Germany, followed by France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland and Canada.
